Description:

The poetic and picturesque Li River is the important component of Guilin scenery. It originates in Mountain Cat at Xinan County in the northeast of Guilin. It winds and meanders its way for 170 kilometers, passing through Guilin, Yangshuo to the outlet of Gongchen River in Pingle County. Li River, between Guilin and Yangshuo, traverses 84 kilometers like a jade ribbon winding among thousands of the hills. Along the river, the rolling peaks, steep cliffs, green hills and clear water constitute a fascinating hundred-mile pictures gallery. Hanyu vividly described the enchanting beauty of the Lijiang River in his poem: The River looks like a blue silk ribbon, and the mountains resemble emerald hairpins."

The Li River is famous for its beauty of four unique: verdant mountains, fragrant waters, mysterious grottoes, and exquisite rocks. Along the river, there are deep pools, dangerous shoals, murmuring springs, and roaring waterfalls. Li River, according to its different scenes, may be divided into three sections: The first section: Guilin to Ox Gorge. Here along the banks, the forest of grotesque peaks, towns, scattering cottages and fields compose the beginning of the pictures gallery. Major attractions along this section include Elephant Hill, Cock-fighting Hill, Clear-Vase Hill, Peaks of Wonders, Father and Son Cave, Longmen Village, Daxu Town and Millstone Hill etc. Going downstream in a tourist boat, one can enjoy spectacular views of crowded towering peaks along the riverbanks, waterfalls suspending over forests of rocks, and their crashing sprays upon jutting rocks.

The second section: Ox Gorge to Water-Dropping Village. Around here tourists can feast their eyes on range and range of mountains and weirdly shaped peaks which is the cream of Li River scenery and the main part of pictures gallery. Major attractions include Wang Fu Rock, Gaoping Village, Crown Cave, One-side Ferry, Carp Cliff, A Boy Worships Buddha, Wave-Stone Scenery, Eight Fairies Crossing the River, Painted cliff, Reflection of Yellow Cloth and Xingping Town etc. Among these scenic spots, Crown Cave, Painted Cliff and scenic wonders in Xingping are the most spectacular, excited and intoxicated.

The third section: Water-Dropping Village to Yangshuo. Along the both banks, green bamboos, bending willows, crop fields, cottages and fishing villages can be seen everywhere.

That adds an exceptional charm of pastoral culture. Li River scenery is known to all not only for its green hills, clear water, fantastic caves and spectacular rocks but also for its wonderful deep pools, springs and waterfalls. In fine days, reflections of the hills in clear and greenish water are special pleasing to the eyes, but it is more enchanting under rainy and misty weather. The hazy view of the drizzling rain and lingering clouds give birth to a wonderful fairyland for tourists. Join a cruise on Li River can make you feel you are wandering in a piece of beautiful painting. We will leave you an unforgettable memory of your Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo. The Lijiang River brimming with crystal-clear waters twists and turns between magnificent and beautiful mountains. Its banks are covered with lush bamboo and luxuriantly green woods. Luohan Mountain, Chaoban Mountain, Wuzhi Mountain and Luosi Mountain rise up from under the waters. What a splendid scenery they present!
